Red Giant’s PluralEyes syncing software gets an upgrade
New PluralEyes 4.0 allows syncing directly from within Adobe Premiere
Audio/video synch software PluralEyes from Red Giant has gotten a major upgrade. The new PluralEyes 4.0 now allows syncing of audio directly in Adobe Premiere Pro without having to leave the application.
Part of Red Giant’s Shooter Suite, PluralEyes 4.0 features a number of new features. The Adobe Premiere Pro Panel allows PluralEyes functionality with the Premiere interface, offering syncing and colour coding capabilities that are in the PluralEyes standalone version.
PluralEyes 4.0’s Smart Start feature allows users to drag and drop an entire folder of media into PluralEyes, and during a sync the app will automatically detect which device the media came from. Files are sorted so that media from the same device are on the same track.
The software’s new Automatic Drift Correction feature compensates for audio and video sync drifting. Automatic Drift Correction, which was announced in version 3.5. now automatically fixes drift when it is detected, then gives editors the option to toggle between the drift-corrected sync and the original audio for comparison.
PluralEyes has always featured colour coding for unsynced clips. , showing editors the progress of a sync, making it easy to make adjustments. In the new version, export from PluralEyes to Premiere Pro features a colour coding option for clips that don’t sync properly.
The new version also has Red Giant Offload integration. Red Giant Offload performs a checksum during media transfer from camera card to hard drive, letting users know that footage has been backed up with no loss. PluralEyes 4.0 is able to detect Offload events and bring footage over, for a seamless workflow from Offload to PluralEyes to the host-app.
Additionally, PluralEyes now has the same keyboard shortcuts as Premiere Pro, aiming for a more familiar timeline and playback experience. Vertical Track Scaling in PluralEyes 4.0 allows users to see more detail in the waveform when inspecting media. Users can compare tracks and verify the sync by selecting which audio waveform is shown next to the video track. And the style of the application has been changed to match the the rest of the line of Red Giant tools.
