Clients can upload their files and have editing, mixing, sound design and music composition completed remotely. Throughout a project they can attend virtual studio sessions via a live stream from Pro Tools.

Founder Thomas Dalton started Brown Bear after working remotely as a freelance sound editor. The company has a studio in Brighton which clients can attend, and the cloud-based workflow is the next phase the company’s development.

Project files are uploaded via an FTP server based on Amazon Web Services. Clients can review work via software Source Live Pro 3 which enables Brown Bear to stream live audio and video from its Pro Tools session to a client’s web browser or Source Connect app.

“Clients can communicate during a streaming session via a standard telephone call or through Skype or the build in chat function,” said Dalton.

“As with the source files, the live steam is encrypted and password protected for security.

“We can also upload a reference video to our FTP provider that clients can view, download and comment on, at specific timecodes. All this can be done through a web browser without the need to download the files.”

Deliverables are also uploaded to Brown Bear’s FTP server for download by clients.
