New tools in the Cubix broadcast management platform
Ortana expands its Cubix broadcast workflow management platform to include a host of new features
Ortana Media Group has expanded its Cubix asset management and media orchestration platform for broadcasters.
The new features include the Cubix Taskflow Designer allows system administrators to build their own workflows and design task-specific user interfaces matching operational requirements.
The company is also introducing Cubix Tracker and Reporting which provides visual displays allowing non-technical staff to review any Cubix taskflow and drill down into detailed file-related information as well as corporate information such as service-level agreements. Content can be tracked through the process chain from licensing and ingest to transmission.
Ortana’s new Cubix True Hybrid Cloud offering, allows Cubix to be operated on on-site servers, in the cloud or as a hardware-plus-cloud hybrid. Cubix provides native support for Amazon RDS and Microsoft Azure SQL. The modular nature of Cubix and its Resource Groups allows administrators to migrate Cubix systems in discrete steps to and from the cloud.
Another new addition is Cubix Shared SaaS, which costs £199 per month with ‘per-seat’ licensing. It includes all the features of Ortana’s Technical and Clips/Distribution Portals and access to virtual devices transcoding, file-based quality-control and storage.
The Cubix asset management layer aims to support a wide range of needs, including the ability to configure content hierarchies and editorial schemas. Cubix also provides full support for workflows based on discrete media such as tape and film.
The configurable orchestration layer within Cubix works both with the asset management and automation layers, allowing different workflows to be configured and re-configured as required. It provides support for automated operation as well as more complex creative processes. Cubix is accessed via multiple web portals for many different use cases.
